Behind the Lens…

Mary Kate Vanderhart

I am based in Lookout Mountain, GA, just outside Chattanooga, TN. I have called Chattanooga home since 2006 and I cannot imagine living anywhere else!

I have always loved taking photos. I remember saving up my allowance for disposable cameras as a child and visiting the local Wolf Camera weekly. In college, I began more formal training through photography classes. I’ve spent the last several years focused on weaving and macrame and using photography primarily as a way to amplify my art. But, in the last year I began to realize how much I missed photographing people. The joy I feel capturing memories for families is hard to describe. As a mother to three kiddos, I understand how quickly they grow and change. It is so important to treasure these fleeting years and create memories that last a lifetime.
